That real autumn feel is in the air here in Truro…
… and one cannot resist spending as many moments as possible soaking up this exquisite golden light and warmth. When not in the garden or on a walk, I’ve been busy organizing our 2024 TruroYoga Simplify Weekend Retreat! It’s just around the corner and sold out—and we are all pretty stoked for a spectacular weekend with new collaborations and special guests. I am looking forward to celebrating the beauty of the Outer Cape while connecting with friends and highlighting many of our local talents.
How has this shift from summer to fall been for you? Have you gotten into a groove? We are back at the Truro Community Center with regular classes Tuesday, Friday, & Sunday mornings. If we didn’t see you during the summer for our fun outdoor classes, I hope you’ll join us this fall and winter to keep your body strong and inner fire alive!
As usual, the summertime was a high energy hustle and classes were fantastic, but a big shift was being unable to beach at our happy place…Longnook. The volleyball nets were moved from Longnook to Coast Guard and finally settled for the height of the season at Ballston Beach. We adapted, enjoyed volleyball and many gorgeous beach days from a different perspective, however, the experience heightened my awareness of just how fragile our spit is and how terrible it must be for people who are displaced and forced to leave the comfort of what they know and love. The recent hurricanes in southern states also drove this home.
It sure is a pivotal time. With the political heat rising throughout the US, and wars raging in many areas of the world, I am cherishing and appreciating the simple comforts we have here: warm house, aromas of chai simmering on the stove, garden bounty, nourishing meals, and lots of family love and connection. I am very grateful, and also, very much feeling for people everywhere who are suffering. Early November is just around the corner, and my hope is that we can show up and come together – despite differences – around what is meaningful and truly important.
So far this fall, Paul and I traveled to see my family in Québec. I was struck by how vibrant the community is there, with loads of young families growing food, collaborating on business ventures, and working hard to offer a thriving marketplace. Visiting the microbreweries and experiencing the local food movement really lit up my hope for the future and also jumpstarted my plans for a 2026 Retreat to Québec! Who wants to join?!
Along the journey to Canada, we stayed in New Hampshire’s White Mountains and did some rigorous day hikes, including the stunning Crawford Notch. Paul and I are thrilled for our plans to go see Leon Bridges and Hermanos Gutiérrez in Boston in early November. Be sure to check out the newest playlist, which highlights these fantastic artists. Have you been prioritizing some fun times for yourself? Looking to put something fabulous in your winter calendar?!
TruroYoga’s Bliss in Baja Retreat in February 2025 still has some spots available! This will be our third time back to Serenity Retreat Center along the Sea of Cortez within the Cabo Pulmo Marine Preserve. This Preserve has been internationally recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the diversity of plant and animal life is remarkable. The retreat offers plenty of adventure and expedition along with time to chill, swim and stargaze. Secure your spot now and have something extraordinary to look forward to!!
The news hasn’t yet been posted on our TruroYoga website, but the cat is out of the bag—we are going on Retreat to Argentina in November 2025! Word has been traveling fast with this one folks, and we have only 2 rooms left. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you are interested in joining us!
I do have a little more room in my weekly fall and winter schedule for another private session or two—available in-person in your home or on zoom! Let me know :)
Anyone else overwhelmed with the abundance of fresh fall leafy greens? Here’s my new recipe for Green Pie (my take on SPANAKOPITA).
Looking towards the light, with gratitude and hope.
