The Yogi’s Dance

Greetings everyone,

TruroYoga is beginning to wake up from a quieter time. The winter months have been somewhat bleak & restful, and I’ve slowly re-emerged teaching public yoga classes at the Community Center now that Covid restrictions are calming. Being back teaching in the community has been a gift and it has been uplifting to see some of your faces again. Where are the rest of y’all—still hibernating? Life continues to present us heavy experiences with war in Ukraine, housing and economic struggles in the US & worldwide, and growing climate concerns—yet somehow, we continue to cultivate joy and look toward brighter months ahead. Being present to it all—to the devastation and the joyful blossomings—is the yogi’s dance.

The cycle of life keeps churning and the feeling of early spring is in the air. It is beginning again, and the world is reminding us that rebirth is what it does best. Yellow, purple and white crocuses are showing themselves in the sunlight, the birds are coming back, and the gardens are slooowly beginning to call my attention. However, it is still March, and as many of you know, the Outer Cape doesn’t peak with full green growth until May! Well, if we can’t experience it here, where might we travel to find true spring? My family and I decided to go to Rome during Esme’s spring break where we’ll shed some layers, walk the city, explore and eat for a week. When I return, I’ll teach classes during the first three weeks of April at the Community Center before heading off at the end of month to lead TruroYoga’s Hiking & Yoga Retreat in Portugal. There are no more spots available for this spring retreat however, a year passes quickly, and I am already beginning to lightly plan next year’s destination. I’ve been thinking of Sardinia in the Mediterranean Sea or Southern France, known for its aromas of jasmine, lavender and roses. Let me know if either of these places light you up. Offering a retreat abroad in a warmer & livelier place during the early spring each year, before the gardens need our daily tending, is my hope.

Spring-cleaning time! What does this look like for you this year? For me, it has been cleaning out my pantry, freezer and fridge before I depart on our trip to Italy. I have been making use all pantry items stored over the winter in combination with the box of fresh vegetables & Uli’s oyster mushrooms that I’ve been receiving monthly through Sustainable CAPE & HOW’s CSA program. The CSA box of fresh veggies inspired me to create many tasty meals, including the one I will share with you here.

The spring-cleaning energy has moved me to revisit some older playlists, and it has been fun listening to music that I haven’t delved into for a decade or longer. Check out my latest Spotify playlist to hear some of these revisited tunes.

Ciao for now,

G

I came to web design and development over 18 years ago when I wanted to get the right look and feel for the web presence of our sustainable shellfish aquaculture business. With a background in marine science and biomechanics and long interest in painting and drawing, I got hooked on the art and tech of web design and the joy of creating a unique web experience for my clients.
