Pace Yourself - It Will Get Done

Hello Friends,

daffodil

Spring has sprung, and so far we’ve lucked out with many sunny, warm days and lots of blossoming, budding new life here on the Outer Cape.  It’s always a relief to be stepping into the new season, away from frigid weather, and looking ahead to the highlights of summer, the return of our extended community, and the garden’s abundance.  I do admit though that the warm weather also stirs up an overwhelming, frazzled feeling within.  Somehow the sunshine sparks this notion that I must get everything accomplished all at once, and my growing to-do list with garden tasks, schedule changes, travel prep, etc. has been on repeat in my mind during the past couple weeks.  Can you relate? Feeling carried away seems like a norm around here this time of year, yet I’d rather find my way back to some familiar wisdom.  So, with the re-occurring themes of balance and self-care in mind, my focus returns to pacing and organizing.

How do I pace myself? What’s priority?  Would a schedule help? For some people, planning ahead and being disciplined comes quite naturally. For me, it’s a push. I do however find that sweet balance when my schedule is clear and organized, yet not too packed or overly-structured, and the days allow for some spontaneity and joyful dancing.  Keeping to a paced schedule inspires me to savor the moments when rigidity falls away and my creativity flows.  We see this in our yoga practice too: the more healthy strength and steadfastness we cultivate, the more we are able to move with ease and openness.  It’s that balance of Sthira and Sukha that I crave.

With TruroYoga’s sold-out Retreat to Sardinia coming soon in Mid-May, a schedule has been the key to help me get things done!  When I return home in late May, we’ll be quickly transitioning to the summer yoga schedule. Be sure to mark your calendar as our weekly classes will re-locate to Snow’s Park, Pamet Harbor Yacht & Tennis Club, and Truro Vineyards starting Memorial Day Weekend. It is definitely going to be a spectacular season of coming together!

With thoughts of getting organized and planning ahead, perhaps you want to consider booking a spot now for our Fall 2023 Yoga Retreat to Istria, Croatia. This Yoga Retreat & Foodie Adventure will take us off the beaten path for a remarkably unique and memorable experience. If this peaks your interest, remember what my friend Francie likes to say, “Early bird gets the worm!” Just sayin’.

Please check out UPCOMING RETREATS to find out everything you’ll need to know—itinerary, accommodations, day trips, and more.

Whether it’s on the mat in Truro or on an upcoming retreat, I am looking forward to re-connecting with you and our TruroYoga tribe.

Happy Spring!

May you find your healthy pace & rhythm,

P.S. When you find yourself in the garden at 8 pm with seeds in-hand (or at your computer) and no dinner planned, it’s the right time to fall back on those tried-and-true simple recipes.  For me, it’s the classic French omelette.  Read more
